Roy MacDowell, founder and president of the MacDowell Foundation, devotes his time outside of his duties to various local charities and organizations, with the intent to improve communities and businesses. A current board member of the New England chapter of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Roy MacDowell stands beside many other supporters who want to cultivate a world without hate and discrimination.

Recently launching its Imagine a World Without Hate campaign, the Anti-Defamation League of New England is calling on all people to work towards creating a world without hate and violence, spurred by racism, homophobia, and bigotry. While promoting this powerful message to the public, the league also brings many issues to the legislature, including bills geared towards immigration, LGBT rights, education equality, and criminal justice.

In 1985, ADL also founded the World of Difference campaign, which seeks to inform the public on issues related to prejudice and discrimination, and to put a stop to these things through open conversation and partnership. The campaign brings the discussion to classrooms around New England, making changes in how students and educators handle biased behaviors.v
